I once again joined a terrific set of colleagues for the annual conference of the Michigan Historic Preservation Network, held this year in Kalamazoo. It was another enjoyable and informative gathering, and as usual I brought my 4×5 camera for some HABS/HAER photography.
Both Western Michigan University, where the conference was held, and the City of Kalamazoo, have a range of fantastic historic buildings, from the American National Bank Building, an Art Deco skyscraper, to the brick water tower at the Kalamazoo Psychiatric Hospital adjacent to Western Michigan University, and Parkwyn, a Usonian neighborhood with several Frank Lloyd Wright houses. It was a treat to be there with a camera, and I am looking forward to rejoining my colleagues at Sault Ste. Marie in 2025.
